The purpose of this class is to teach basic soldering, which is a key technique for connecting circuits. Participants will learn soldering on a circuit board, soldering safety, and an understanding of circuitry as they create a light-up necklace using a circuit board with LEDs. This class will be presented by community members of Monumental Impact. Many of Monumental Impact’s community members, both students and adults, rely on their soldering capabilities to build reliable robots for competitions and to translate their creative ideas into reality. All supplies will be provided. No prior knowledge is required. Ages 13 and up.

Microsoft Word has become the most popular word processing program and is a basic component of the Microsoft Office suite of programs. This class is designed to introduce students to the basics of Microsoft Word. Students will learn how to create and save a document, as well as make basic text adjustments such as font, size, color, and alignment. The class meets weekly for four consecutive weeks, with three sessions that are instructor-led and cover material on the given topic and a fourth session that is conducted as an open lab for students to ask questions, take proctored exams, or get more information.

Each session of the Junior Advisory Board (JAB) will include time for you to give ideas and feedback, as well as time for a fun project or activity.
