Are you interested in: practicing your English conversation skills? learning about Quincy Center? meeting new people? Please join us for Walk and Talk! Led by 2 volunteer teachers, the walks start at the Quincy Library and follow different routes around Quincy Center (a maximum distance of 2 miles, walked at a slow pace). The walks are a great opportunity for English Language Learners to meet new people, enjoy casual conversation and learn about the many interesting places in Quincy Center! Longtime Quincy community members who are interested in meeting people from other cultures are very welcome to join, as well. Meet in front of the library (on Washington Street) at 10:00 AM. The group leaves the library at 10:15 AM so be sure to arrive by then! Other information: This is a drop-in event. Registration is not required. On cold or rainy days, the walk may be canceled. Join us for a playful four-week Baby Sign series with Sheryl White of Baby Kneads. Sign language helps babies communicate and reduces frustration for everyone. In this program, your baby will learn sign language through songs, stories, games, puppets, play and more. Sheryl will come each week with a bag of props and will sign directly to the babies. It will be a feast for the babies’ eyes and they will leave ready for a nap after all of the fun. If you would like to give your baby a voice, accelerate the development of speech, enhance early literacy skills and deepen the bond with your baby, this class is for you. This program is for caregivers with preverbal babies up to age 16 months. Both child and caregiver participate in the program. Adults can only attend with a baby. Registration Required. The program runs for four weeks and will take place on Thursdays, from 11:30 am - 12:30pm on August 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th. Please plan to attend all 4 sessions. Registration begins on Monday, July 21st at 9:00 am on the library’s online calendar at thomascranelibrary.org. Join us for a fun and relaxing Chinese book club! Every second Saturday afternoon of the month, we connect through books and enjoy conversations about the joy of reading. Each session, we focus on an interesting topic and share our reading experiences, all while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere for open discussion. Every month, we’ll read a new book and exchange different reading experiences, spending a fulfilling and enjoyable Saturday afternoon together. We look forward to meeting you!
