Our selections include a wide range of science fiction, from artificial intelligence, climate fiction, robotics, space opera, hard-science fiction, and dystopian fiction, to humor! Currently, titles for this book group are being decided month-to-month. Book suggestions are welcome. No prior experience with science fiction is required! We welcome novices as well as serious readers of the genre. Museum President Frank Romano will take us on a virtual tour of the Museum of Printing, and discuss the role of the printing press in the American Revolution. Romano will tell the story of the printed pamphlets, broadsides, and newspapers that influenced public opinion and energized the revolution. Virtual. Register for the Zoom link. About the Museum of Printing The Museum of Printing is dedicated to preserving the history of printing, graphic arts, and typography while showcasing their continuing influence on our culture. In addition to many special collections and small exhibits, the Museum contains hundreds of antique printing, typesetting, and bindery machines, as well as a library of books and printing-related documents. The Museum is located at 15 Thornton Ave., Haverhill, Massachusetts. A non-profit organization, the Museum was incorporated in 1978 as The Friends of The Museum of Printing, Inc., to save and preserve printing equipment and library materials associated with the graphic arts. The history of printing has changed dramatically during the last 200 years, moving away from letterpress printing to photographic and electronic technologies. Attendees will settle in to the comfortable seating of the library’s ornate Round Room to perform and enjoy lightly amplified music in a true listening environment. Refreshments will be available.
