Students who share a love of reading meet to discuss a different book each month.   Titles for discussion are chosen by the membership and provided by our Teen Librarian Liaison from the Ocean County Library.  This club meets after school on the second Monday of each month, from September until May.  New members are always welcome.

Virtual Option Available Adviser:  Dr. Gilman How to Join Green Team  Send Dr. Gilman an email at [email protected] with 'Green Team' in the subject line, and he will invite you into the Green Team Google Classroom with our own Meet link. What is Green Team? Green Team = "We Belong to the Earth.  The Earth does NOT Belong to Us."  We learn the facts about global warming - what is causing it, why it is getting worse and will continue to get worse, and what we can do about it.  Which is where the Green Team comes in.  Our primary function is to collect the recycling.  But we also do what we can to raise awareness to the problem of global warming, and the need to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.  We keep up-to-date with new data and new actions around the world.

Club members also share their love of Japanese literature known as manga.  We collaborate with the OC Library on an annual Anime Night that is hosted by a celebrity in the anime world.  We have parties that include cosplay, auctions, video game competitions and authentic Japanese snacks. It features original artwork, poetry, short stories and photography from the student body of North. Any student may join Polaris, although you do not need to be a member to submit work. The student based staff of Polaris selects the best submissions, and they are published in the Polaris magazine, which is released in June. A strong art and writing background is suggested for any student who wishes to join the staff.
