When is this day? May 12 What is this day? National Mental Health Provider Appreciation Day is a holiday to celebrate mental health providers and practitioners who provide care, compassion, and advocacy. This is for therapists, psychiatrists, and more. There are those which heal the body and those who help heal the mind. Those who work in mental health have been strong advocates in telling others its okay to ask for help. You matter. This is amidst Mental Health Awareness Month. Part of reducing stigma is recognizing it’s okay to ask for help. This day is to recognize the unsung heroes and advocates who help people everyday. Who created this day? This day was founded by Anne Totero in 2020.  How should this day be celebrated or observed? Send a thank you to your provider showing appreciation for their work. Post a video or photo showing or expressing how therapy has positively impacted you.
