Join us as we continue our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! Learn more about Nature Quest and create your own journal to use throughout the year. CFPL Co-Lab Adults 18+ Registration required Participants will be guided on a personal Nature Quest by selecting from a series of monthly workshops and open studio classes (locations will be shared between the Hearst and the Library) hosted by artists and field experts throughout the seasons. Open studio sessions will encourage participants to create and reflect in personal journals using a variety of prompts from How To Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith (each participant will receive a free copy while supplies last) with social time geared towards cultivating a sense of community. Materials will be provided. As the program ends upon one year of seasonal change, all participants will be invited to show their work at the Hearst and Cedar Falls Library. Made possible by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Kathryn Ray Fund for use by the Library.

For fans of creatures that don't exist (probably), people they'll never meet (maybe), and places that can't be found (yet); whether you're a seasoned explorer of other worlds or a first-time reader in these genres, we welcome you to join us! This book discussion group will meet 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday of each month in the 2nd floor Conference Room.  It is intended for adults. Join us on 9/3/25 at 7 p.m. for a discussion of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik.

CFPL has a Knitting and a Crocheting group aka Sheep Baatiquers that meets in the Co-Lab every first Saturday of the month from 12pm-3pm. Large projects and small, with community knitters and crocheters on hand to offer guidance.  New yarn crafters are welcome   The group even has resources to help the left-handed yarn crafter. No registration required.  Bring your own needles and your pattern.  A few free patterns will be available. Stop by to see what's going on and join in!

Would you care for a game of chess?  Join fellow players at the Cedar Falls Public Library's meeting room (2nd floor) to meet your next opponent.  The club meets regularly on the 3rd Monday of each month. This gathering is open to all ages, but a firm grasp of chess is expected from all players as there is no formal instruction. No registration is required. The library's Safe Child Policy applies to all programs - children under 11 will need a responsible caregiver present and in the room with them at all times.
